Halloween Banner

Here is a fun project for Halloween.  It can be as simple or ornate as you wish.  All you need to do is print out the sheets I have already made for you and decorate.  I suggest using a card stock paper or thick photo paper to print on.  The PDF {available by clicking here} contains 3 qty 8.5×11 sheets.   Each sheet has 2 photos on it in a 5×7 size {so you could frame these instead, if you wish}.

What you need:

3qty sheets of paper, cardstock or photo paper

Additional 3 qty colored/decorative paper {to adhere to the back of the images}

Printer {to print out the sheets}

Paper cutter or scissors

Hole Puncher

String, ribbon or fabric to string

Glue & Glitter

Cut out your images and glue them to a slightly larger card stock paper.  This will give it strength and an extra boost of color or texture {we used a shimmery grey}.  Use your glue to make designs for the glitter to stick {Lincoln had a blast doing this}.  Sprinkle glitter on the glue and shake around {gently} to get the glitter to stick to all the glue.

Punch 2 holes at the top of each picture.  Feed the ribbon from the back on the left so that it lays across the images and goes out the other hole on the right and out to the back.  Hang and enjoy!

Festive Fall Almond Bark

This really may be our simplest recipe yet!!  I always look forward to the treats that autumn brings, especially the candy corn and peanut mix- it’s my weakness!  But I decided to give it a simple twist this year and make it into a “bar” type treat by sprinkling it over almond bark.  Not only is it easy and delicious, it has a great festive look too!

Here’s what you need:

Almond Bark (one package covered a 9×13 pan)

Can of Salted Dry Roasted Peanuts

Bag of Candy Corn

Begin by placing your almond bark in a microwave save bowl.  Melt it 1 minute at a time, stirring in between.

Cover a 9×13 cookie sheet with wax paper.

Once the almond bark is completely melted, spread it out over the cook sheet.

Next you sprinkle your peanuts and candy over the melted bark.

Place in fridge until it hardens, then use a knife to break into single servings.

Simple and Sweet!! Enjoy!!!

Feature Friday…Cupcakes, Candy and more!

We found the CUTEST online cupcake store…

Although Magpies Bakery is far from us {in Knoxville, TN}, we still get inspired by their flavors and decorating {and adorable website}!

We LOVE cupcakes for ANY occasion!  A holiday is a great excuse for a themed cupcake.  We are not into the ghosts, goblins and other gory things, but we can get excited about orange, festive and a few spider webs.

Check out these cute cupcakes for Halloween that we found on Pinterest

Monogram Funkins

This project really is a simple and long lasting project.  These funkins {foam pumpkins} can be found at Michael’s.  I bought them when they were 50% off {which they are still now} so this large size was only $10.  {You can always sign up for Michael’s coupons and you can still buy them at a discount using the coupons even if they are not on sale…click HERE to sign up}.

What You Need…

1. Funkin {any size}

2. Pencil

3. Thumb Tacks {found at Menards for $.79 each pack of 40}

I used the cream Funkin in the largest size and ended up using 2 packages of the thumb tacks {I chose the Nickle finish}.  All I did was freehanded an “R” on the Funkin and then gently pressed the thumb tacks along my pencil lines.  You don’t have to press hard and you can take it out and reposition it if you get it in the wrong spot.

You could print out a design, letters, your address, etc. and have that be your design too.  All you would need to do is print your image, then scribble pencil along the lines of the design on the back of the paper and then use that as your mock carbon paper for tracing it onto the Funkin.  This technique was used in the block art {Natalie’s Bathroom} and also in the making of the signs for the cottage sale.  Photos are shown on how to do this technique on these tutorials.  I went with a simple monogram and it welcomes my guests to the Rohwer home.
