A 1st Day of School Tradition

A couple of weeks ago our kids went back to school.  Were there tears?? From a couple of moms… Was I one of them?  NOPE!  Don’t get me wrong, I love my boys dearly but it was time!  We had a great summer but it was time to get back to school.  They’d done all the swimming they could do, they’d caught all the frogs they could catch… time to get on with life, learning, and fun!  So to celebrate the day, I held my annual caldesac “Cookie Party”.  I started this celebration 7 years ago when my oldest started kindergarten and plan to continue it for many years to come.

22 kids+parents+125 fresh baked chocolate chip cookies = fun for all!

Unfortunately this tradition involves me spending my first day of freedom sweating over a hot oven, but it’s always worth it when I see the kids starting to gather for the party.

{Messy kitchen shot…}

 What I ate for lunch that day…raw cookie dough:)

The party began at 4pm, and by 5:15pm there wasn’t a single cookie left.  Hope your school year has gotten off to a great start!

admin - When I was little our friends mom had a “french silk pie” party after the first day of school! It made that first day all the more exciting!!

Kim M. - I love this tradition! How fun. I’m starting it next year. :)
