Thinking Outside the Box…

Some of my most rewarding projects are ones that required thinking outside of the box a little.  When searching for a t.v. stand, I found that they were often very basic so I decided I needed to search for a different solution.  I came to the conclusion that dining room buffets make great media stands.  They are taller which puts the t.v. more at eye level when you are sitting and they also usually have great storage for components, remotes, dvds, etc..

I found this small buffet on Craigslist for $20!  I painted it cream and added crystal knobs.  It works great for our t.v. stand!

Another example would be my coffee table centerpiece.  I found this great antique mirror at a yard sale but really didn’t have a spot on my walls for it.  So instead, I used it as a base for my coffee table arrangement.

Here is another treasure I found at a garage sale.  It’s an old metal canteen, but by tying a loop of ribbon around the top, I’ve made it into a hanging vase.

We’d love to hear about any “Outside the box” projects you’ve come up with!  Feel free to tell us about them in the comments space below!

Have a great day!!

Michele - We hung the inside of minnow buckets for lights down a long hallway at our lake house. We even left some of the old ropes hanging down on them. We took the outside of those buckets, cut them in half, and made sconces out of them. In the bathroom we hung a big chicken coop for towels and bath supplies. People are shocked when they see it. Love all of the stuff you guys do!
