A Good ‘ol Fashion County Fair

The Washington County Fair in Historic Stillwater, MN is one of our family’s favorite Staycations!  It is a rustic, small-town-feel, super very fun place to be!  We go on the day when we can buy the wristbands for the kids to ride all the rides they can handle for 5 hours!  This year…HOT!!  We were all sweating but everyone had a blast and we watched as our kids, one year older, rode almost every ride.  I should have videotaped instead of photographed so you could see the expressions on their faces!  I left the camera in the car until the last hour because it is so heavy to carry around but we enjoyed the animal stables, a lumberjack show, a pig race, plenty of food {not on my diet list} plus rides, rides and more rides!  Wish you were here!!

And since we’re on the topic of County Fair, take a look at this amazing County Fair themed party over at Cakewalk Baking!

Here’s a sneak peek!

Hope you got to enjoy a fair of your own this summer!

admin - Meghan, Thanks so much for your comment! I’m so happy you enjoyed the post! I bet Texas has some fun county fairs! We know those stairs- when we need a good work out they are great (and horrible)! All are best to you!!

Meghan Grace - I love your photos! I haven’t been to a fair-state or county since I moved to Texas from Minnesota almost 14 years ago! I grew up going to the Minnesota State Fair and would almost always go 2-3 times each year-since I was a small child. I just loved going there! One of these years I am going to plan a trip just to attend the state fair. I miss it! BTW, my grandmother lived in Stillwater for 25 years before she moved to Texas. Her home was on the bluff overlooking the St. Croix river. We used to walk down the bajillion stairs to go shopping downtown. I miss that too! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! :) Meghan

Beth - Your pictures are so beautiful! I took my two children to the same fair during the day, and we had so much fun! It seems the fair takes on a whole different feel at night though. I’m making a mental note to visit at night next year:)!
