We had so much fun last summer planning Noelle and Greg’s outdoor reception. The internet {mainly PINTEREST} was a great resource for ideas. Here are some of the details from the day. Remember that these ideas could be tweaked to fit any type of party… a graduation party, bridal shower, birthday party, etc.

This vintage train case and antique trunk were the perfect pieces for guests to drop their gifts and cards off in! We finished them off with these beautiful printables from the Wedding Chicks!

We used this cute ceramic pig from my mom’s kitchen to remind guests to recycle and reuse. We were able to have a “green” reception by using compostable flatware, plates, napkins, etc..
This cute chalkboard was perfect to welcome guest.

The goal was to use what we already had so my boys art easel worked great to display the menu on. My uncle catered it- don’t you love his pig! If you live in the Twin Cities area, his catering is amazing!! Nothing better than a good old fashion pig roast in the summertime. Click HERE for info. on his catering.

We kept our beverages simple… Iced tea, lemonade, wine, and beer. If you’re looking for a good lemonade recipe try our one of our JosieJones Lemonades!
{***Fun gift idea… A lemonade pitcher, spoon for stirring, ingredients, and our printable lemonade recipe cards}

We set aside a small table just for the bride and groom to sit at. It was nestled under a canopy of leaves and white lights. I used a pedestal table I had gotten ready to sell at the JosieJones Cottage sale and softened it with a vintage table cloth.

This beautiful old tree was the perfect backdrop for the wedding day pictures. Many of the guest had not been able to attend the Oregon wedding so it was fun for them to enjoy pictures from the big event. I simple wound jute around the tree tightly and slid the photos behind the rope.
We also had guests leave their “recipe for a good marriage” in a recipe box that I had hand painted for the day.

Fresh flowers and signs were functional and decorative!

For a simple party favor, we had salt water taffy for our guests. We sprinkled handfuls down the center of each table which added lovely burst of colors to the fresh white table clothes. On the cake table we had a large milk glass bowl of taffy with a note inviting guest to help themselves. We called it “A Souvenir from CA from the California couple”! Pretty to look at and sweet to eat!

We hope you enjoyed some of these simple ideas! Perhaps it has inspired you to host a summer get together. Look around your home and use what you have. Think outside the box! Have a great Wednesday everyone!
