So in the past few posts you’ve gotten a recap on my sister’s wedding from last summer. The actual wedding took place at the amazing McMenamin’s Hotel in Troutdale, OR. It was an event to remember! The events that followed on their road trip honeymoon were unfortunately some we’d like to forget. While on an impromptu hike, their car was broken into and a great deal of their wedding memorabilia was stolen. The most upsetting items missing was the headpiece she wore on her wedding day and her wedding bouquet which was made up of vintage jewelry from family and friends. There were brooches from grandmothers who had passed that were irreplaceable. Here’s a photo of the original bouquet…

They were devastated. Although they new it could have been much worse, it still put a dark cloud over what should have been one of the greatest memories of their lives. The local news station heard of their troubles and came out to interview them. Here is the clip…

Newlyweds Wedding Memorabilia Stolen
Sadly, the items were never recovered. Although nothing could replace the items taken, we sure were going to try to shine a little sunshine on it all. I began collecting brooches again from family and friends. I researched how to make a brooch bouquet online and decided to give it a try. At their August Wisconsin reception, we were able to surprise them with a new bouquet, the same hair ribbon she wore at the wedding, and the same dress that she had worn at the rehearsal dinner {all items that had been stolen}. Noelle and Greg were completely surprised and touched.
Here is the bouquet I made…

Life gave us lemons, so we made lemonade and it was wonderful!!!
I thought it would be fun to find some other bouquet ideas. Here are a few from PINTEREST!
How fun would it be to use sheet music or love notes for this bouquet?!
This one has such a vintage feel to it. It could be made using a mother or grandmothers veil or dress fabric to make it even more special.
This cute little collection may not be exactly wedding material, but so cute to have sitting around your home.
Below is a bouquet I made for my house using some sheet music and leftover scrap book paper. I used this great tutorial!
We hope you enjoyed this post and Noelle and Greg’s story. They are coming up on their 1 year wedding anniversary and plan to take a little trip and get back some of the honeymoon they missed out on! Happy 1st Anniversary Noelle and Greg!!! Wishing you many more years of wedded bliss!!!
