Vintage Matchbox Car Shadowbox

This was a great project to be able to accomplish 3 things: Find a spot of my hubby’s childhood Matchbox cars without being forgotten in a box in the basement, Decorate Lincoln’s room with the same theme and use a vintage piece that would otherwise have limited uses.  This is another amazing thing that the previous homeowners left behind.  It is a genuine Hamilton Printing Press Letter storage drawer.  These are valuable but not if they sit in storage {my valuable means part of my living…unless it is an extreme value…which really has no place in my kid-friendly house}.

All we did was go to Menards and have a piece of plexiglass cut to match the drawer dimensions.  Brant used the drill to drill holes in the plexiglass and drawer to match.  Then he was careful when screwing in the screws so he did not go too tight and crack the plexiglass.

Simple…just don’t forget to add the cars before you secure the plexiglass!

maya pealer - I’m loving it all especially the globe light hanging over desk:)

Michelle Paige - What a great way to display those cars. I’m passing your idea onto my SIL who has a car lover in her home. Thanks for the inspiration!
